Joe Kirby Testimony Letter
January 11, 2010
I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that we are putting the finishing touches on my smoke
damage claim. Even though I spent nine years as a multi-line claims adjuster, I can honestly say I was
a little lost when it came to dealing with a personal loss of my own.
You put me in contact with Apex Restoration and I feel compelled to let you know how
helpful they were to me and my family. From the moment they made contact with me, things started to happen
and get done. From the heating and air company, to the electrician, to the cleaning service, they made
sure that every need of ours was met and met on a timely basis.
Your company has done itself a good service by aligning itself with Apex Restoration. They were the right
person for the job and on behalf of my family, I thank you.

The Edwards Home – Beavercreek, Ohio
As the daughter of a former foster child, Connie Edwards had a dream. She wanted to open her doors to foster
children and have a home big enough to take in many children at once. That dream was interrupted when her home was devastated
by fire in May 2005.
When Connie and Steve Edwards bought their home, it was literally a showpiece – a part of Dayton’s Homearama homeshow. It soon
became a lived in, functional home for this family that had opened its doors to foster children for 38 years.
When some grass caught fire in the landscaping, the family was home, but escaped unharmed. Nearly every room was seriously
damaged with smoke and water damage and significant portions had been touched by fire. Apex Restoration went to work on the
home’s five bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, a kitchen, a family room and numerous gathering spaces on the first floor
and finished lower level.
Today, her home has been restored, not only to the former glory it had enjoyed as a Homearama house 15 years ago, but to
status as an award-winning remodeling project. Apex Restoration earned the prestigious Chrysalis Award for Remodeling
Excellence for the project.
While remodeling, Apex Restoration discovered the roof structure was unsafe. So while restoring the home, the Apex
Restoration team corrected the problem. They also built several specialty rooms to accommodate the Edwards family –
including a dance studio with a wall of mirrors and a ballet bar and a basement media room.
Steve and Connie Edwards enjoy the results of the project every day. The house is home for the couple and foster children
once again, as well as a multitude of visitors that includes adult children, adult foster children and grandchildren.
"Apex Restoration has truly been great in helping us, guiding us through the process and making it a home again.
They did an incredible job; you can’t tell that they changed anything. If you didn’t know what was moved and what was
damaged, you wouldn’t be able to tell."

The Terry Home – Madeira, Ohio
Bob and Patricia Terry were lucky to be alive after their Madeira home was devastated by fire last
June. The entire second floor and much of the first floor of their home of 35 years was destroyed. Fire officials told
them that if the fire had started while they were home, they wouldn’t have survived.
An electrical fire in the attic wreaked havoc on the second floor of this Cape Cod home, minutes after the couple had left
for work and errands.
When the fire was out, the Terrys’ insurance agent recommended they contact Apex Restoration. The result is a home they
could live in for another 35 years. The Terrys found an opportunity among the ashes, the chance to remodel, improve and
expand their home.
They invested an additional $40,000 to remodel and expand their home. Apex Restoration’s team, began with cleaning the
water and fire affected areas and rebuilding the home.
While it was under construction, they worked with an architect to design an expansion. The team expanded the second floor
by raising the ceilings, adding a full bathroom, increased closet space and two dormer windows. They also upgraded the
kitchen cabinetry and installed crown molding in the home’s living and dining rooms.
But what started as a life changing disaster became cause for celebration. The Terrys now live in an award-winning home.
In 2006, the project received the Prestigious Chrysalis Award and was featured in Qualified Remodeler magazine.
"It definitely is a happy ending to a miserable situation."
Patricia Terry
She said the house is now ideal for her family. "When something like this happens to you, you don’t think you’ll ever
recover from it. But Apex just did a phenomenal job of comforting us, taking charge and making it better. I didn’t see
a bill for anything for nine months. Apex and my insurance took care of everything."
For the Terrys, taking care of everything included bringing life back to irreplaceable items Patricia Terry thought were
lost.
"I had an antique dining room set; it was my mother’s, and I really wanted to be able to keep it," Terry remembers. "It
was seriously water damaged, but they did an incredible job restoring it. It’s sitting in my dining room in wonderful
shape."
"The fire really put everything in perspective for us, that things can be replaced, homes can be rebuilt and knowing that
helped us to get through it," Patricia said.
