Preparing The Roof

Before painting, it is next time to clean the roofing material. Get a pressure washer hose up there to remove debris, dust, and caked on dirt. Be careful not to get the water up and under tiles, because it can cause water damage to your home. Once the power washing is complete, allow the roof time to dry thoroughly.
From there, ensure that you paint only when the weather is not calling for rain or other precipitation. The idea is to paint and have time to dry before any rainfall.
At this point, you are ready to give a coat of primer to the roof. Start at the top of the ceiling, working in a sweeping motion back and forth approximately 12 inches away from the roofing. Once the primer has dried then you are ready to go for it with the paint. Allow to dry.
